‘Internationalizing your teaching’: Designing professional development

The ‘Internationalizing your teaching’ workshop series (2017-2018) offered professional development to faculty across a number of Navitas colleges in North America. Designed and developed in partnership with Navitas Learning and Teaching Services, the series built on established internationalization frameworks and research, creating and sharing tools and techniques for faculty to be able to reflect on their own teaching approaches.

The workshop series focused on understanding who our international students are, what their needs are as individuals, and then taking what we know is best practice to support them.

Elsa Wiehe spoke with Lucy Blakemore to discuss why this professional development was designed in the first place, what it involved, what the point of it is, and what’s coming next for the series.
