A matching pair: Connecting our community of international and domestic students

USA/Boston 4.00pm | Tues 20th February
Australia/Sydney 8.00am | Wed 21st February
UK/London 9.00pm | Tues 20th February

Presenter:
Patrick Lagan – Student Experience Specialist – GSSP at UMass Lowell

How do you help international students overcome language barriers and feel part of the local culture, whilst also helping domestic students expand cultural horizons and get ready for a globalised working environment? What really makes a difference when you’re trying to build cultural inclusiveness into a student community?

In this Q&A session, Patrick Lagan explores with us the design and impact of the ‘Pair-Up Program’, a multicultural friendship program that encourages international and domestic student cultural exchange at UMass Lowell. Patrick will share some of the learnings from the early stages of the program, what’s needed to keep it running successfully, and why students sign up in greater numbers year after year (there’s even a waiting list for the latest round of applicants!).

You can learn more about the program here. You’ll have a chance to hear more from Patrick, ask questions and discuss your own experiences during the online session (register below).
