Navitas (UPA): Highly Commended at the 2021 PIEoneer Awards

Navitas (UPA) is extremely proud to have been recognised as Highly Commended after being shortlisted as a finalist for the 2021 PIEoneer Awards in the Digital Innovation of the Year – Learning category earlier this year.

Highly Commended: Digital Innovation of the Year – Learning

The award required category finalists to demonstrate the exceptional impact of their innovation on the international student learning experience. Navitas UPA’s submission centred around the Flexible Learning project and described how the division responded to the challenge of the pandemic with a new delivery model for students. The submission evidenced the impact of the innovation to date and highlighted the Flexible Learning project as an enabling force in the division which created a new flexible delivery model for students that formed one single learning community between synchronous and asynchronous learners.

Hybrid London Gala event

To celebrate the achievements of all those shortlisted, a hybrid London Gala event was held on Friday 3rd September 2021. Over 200 virtual attendees, including members of the Learning and Teaching Services team at Navitas UPA, joined the 360 educators who attended in-person.

This was the most competitive year to date to make a submission, with 50% more entries received this year compared to last year. Amy Baker, CEO of The PIE, herself commented on the high quality of these submissions by describing them as “amazing pioneering work“ where “quick pivot and forced innovation” was exhibited to “support students”. To be awarded Highly Commended shows the exceptional standard of the UPA Flexible Learning Project and is testament to the exemplary efforts undertaken by the division and UPA colleges over the past 12 months.
