Project based learning: practice based tertiary education

Project-based learning is seen as an effective and engaging framework to take students from foundation skills to the threshold of professional entry level.

In this seminar, Raf Marcellino, Chief Academic Officer, discusses the introduction of Project Based Learning in SAE Australia. SAE deployed 6 new degree programs in 2014. The new degrees presented an opportunity to review the learning and teaching especially in the context of a practice-based institution in creative media. Project Based Learning was the ethos for shaping modules of study named Studios which integrated knowledge and skill development, individualised and group learning, mentorship and attitudinal & communication skills.

At the time of this Seminar, PBL was in its third trimester and the seminar will discuss what the initial results of its deployment were.
