Writing, stranger than fiction: Getting English language students writing

For a refreshing take on professional development, over 100 busy English language teachers from local universities and colleges met above Mr Tipply’s bar in Sydney on April 5th. This, the sixth ‘MeetELT’ event, was another chance to network, hear bite-sized presentations, and share ideas about how to adapt new techniques into their own teaching.

The topic for the evening was different approaches to writing with students from General English language courses through to Academic English programs. After each presentation, teachers experimented with tasks for themselves or discussed how they could be applied in their own contexts.
