‘Education for Sustainable Development’ online community for staff

As part of our roadmap to embed Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into our curriculum and teaching practices, earlier this year L&T Services (UPA) launched an ESD Online Community – a dedicated platform on MS Teams designed to empower, connect, and inspire academic staff, and support them with the implementation of ESD in their teaching and curriculum.

What will academic staff find in the ESD Online Community?
The ESD Online Community is a collaborative space where Navitas staff can engage in meaningful discussions, share ideas, and access valuable resources, tools, and best practices related to ESD. Whether you are looking to incorporate sustainability into your curriculum or simply want to explore transformative learning strategies, this community is your go-to hub for all things ESD.

The platform offers a rich array of content to support staff in embedding ESD into their teaching practices. It provides an introduction to ESD through curated articles and videos, offering foundational knowledge and insights, to more advanced and in-depth approaches. The platform also links to the wider work Navitas is doing in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) space, with access to Impact Reports that highlight the tangible progress made in sustainability initiatives. Educators can explore ESD courses and gain insights into approaches taken by Navitas partner universities. Additionally, the community offers information on practical resources for integrating ESD into teaching, with a particular (upcoming!) focus on the Navitas Reconciliation Action Plan, providing culturally respectful materials and ideas for embedding First Nations perspectives into the curriculum. To inspire and deepen engagement, the community features blogs and podcasts on sustainability, offering thought-provoking discussions from experts in the field.

Why Join?
By joining the ESD Online Community, you will:

  • Connect with Like-Minded Educators: Collaborate with colleagues across various disciplines who are passionate about sustainability and transformative education.
  • Access Exclusive Resources: Discover a wealth of materials, including lesson plans, case studies, and toolkits to help you implement ESD effectively in your teaching.
  • Share and Learn Best Practices: Stay informed on the latest trends and approaches to ESD, and contribute your own insights and successes to the community.
  • Engage in Professional Development: Participate in discussions, webinars, and workshops designed to enhance your ESD knowledge and teaching practices.

How to Get Involved
Getting started is easy! Navitas staff can join the ESD Online Community on MS Teams, or email learningandteaching@navitas.com to be added, and become part of a growing network of educators who are committed to making a difference through sustainable education.

Together, we can inspire change and equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to create a more sustainable future.

For more information on how to get involved, contact Karen McRae (Manager, Academic Education, L&T Services UPA) at Karen.McRae@navitas.com.
