Academic integrity: sharing ideas and strategies

Academic integrity: sharing ideas and strategies

Australia/Sydney 1.00pm | Thurs 11th August
America/New York 11.00pm | Wed 10th August
Europe/London 4.00am | Thurs 11th August

Presenters:
Niva Kaspi – Course Coordinator and Lecturer – Business and Hotel Management – PIBT

Tales of plagiarism, ghost-writing and contract cheating make great news headlines, but can also be a serious issue where students are under pressure, over-stretched and can’t get the support they need to progress in their course. This informal session goes back to basics with some principles and approaches to academic integrity, including some common challenges around plagiarism, particularly with international students. Niva will also share some strategies for preventing plagiarism, including changes to assessment design and some practical activities you can try with your own students.

In the second half of the session, you are encouraged to share your own experiences, ideas and strategies for supporting academic integrity. We look forward to hearing about the challenges and successes in your college and context to add to the conversation.

About the presenter:

She has delivered staff training on various topics, including Moodle, Turnitin, and Academic Integrity both at PIBT and for Sri Lankan partner ACBT. She is currently a PhD Candidate with the University of Western Australia.
